Walmart’s Onn 4K Pro Google TV streaming box is now available

Walmart has listed its new “Pro” Google TV streaming box and smart speaker combination per week according to the product reached the real world and appeared intermittently on the shop website.

The new Onn 4K Pro, retailing for $49.88, has new features including a built-in Google Assistant smart speaker, Dolby Vision plus Atmos, HDR and a remote control with a large blue “Free TV “ button that discreetly informs you of this Google’s FAST channels as well as A customizable star button that can launch an app or change TV inputs.

You get a barrel-plug power adapter instead of direct AC or USB-C, but at least you get an included HDMI cable.

The square black set-top box isn’t one you’d hide in your entertainment center – it houses a microphone and works just like a Nest Mini with Google Assistant. You can ask the Onn 4K Pro to play a YouTube video or turn on the lights in your smart home and more – all hands-free. It also looks like a Nest Mini with its integrated mesh cover and a row of four LEDs.

While the Onn 4K Pro isn’t from Google, it certainly feels like a successor to the $49.99 model Chromecast with Google TVwhich came onto the market in 2020. In comparison, the Onn 4K Pro has more flexible connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 plus Ethernet, while the Chromecast only has Wi-Fi 5. Onn also has more RAM (3GB vs. 2GB) and more internal storage (32GB vs. 8GB) and allows you to shout “Hey Google” without having to hold the remote control in your hand – and that all for the same price.
